What’s The New Mary Jane (Lennon/McCartney)
What’s The New Mary Jane was recorded and mixed during sessions for The Beatles but was ultimately not included. In what ended up being the final version of the song, only John, George, and Yoko are present. After it was rejected for inclusion on The Beatles John intended to release it as a B-side to You Know My Name (Look Up The Number) but credited to The Plastic Ono Band. A stereo mix was completed in December, 1969 and a catalog number was assigned (APPLES 1002) but the song remained unissued officially until Anthology 3 (after having been considered for the ill-fated Sessions album). The Esher demo and take 1 were both included on the 50th Anniversary Edition of The Beatles.
