Originally recorded during sessions for Help!, Wait was rejected for use on the album. It was resurrected for inclusion on Rubber Soul when a song was needed to finish the album, with overdubs including vocals, maracas, tambourine, and guitar added to bring the overall sound more in line with other songs recorded for Rubber Soul.
