Twist And Shout (Medley/Russell)

As Please Please Me was recorded as a studio version of their stage act, Twist And Shout had to be saved for last because producer George Martin was afraid the vocals would harm the throat of John Lennon, who was nursing a bad cold.

Quotes

“I don’t know how they do it. We’ve been recording all day but the longer we go on the better they get.” – George Martin, after recording the song on the first take – the last song recorded for Please Please Me

“I did try a second take…but John’s voice had gone.” – George Martin
