Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise) (Lennon/McCartney)
Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise) was the last song recorded for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. It was hastily recorded shortly before Paul had to be to the airport to leave for the US.
Different crowd noise
The mono and stereo mixes feature different crowd noises as they were mixed in live during the mixing process for each.
The 8 track variation
The 8 track edition of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band features a longer edit of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise), created to fill more of the tape and “even out” the recording sides. At about 1:15, where Paul’s “Woo!” is heard, the previous 15 seconds are replayed and that “Woo!” is heard again before the song completes.
Quotes
“I said to Paul, ‘Why don’t you have Sgt Pepper as the compère of the album? He comes on at the beginning of the show and introduces the band, and at the end he closes it. A bit later, Paul told John about it in the studio, and John came up to me and said, ‘Nobody likes a smart-arse, Neil’. That was when I knew that John liked it and that it would happen.” – Neil Aspinall
