Rocky Raccoon (Lennon/McCartney)

Guardians Of The Galaxy inspiration

The character of Rocket Raccoon from the Marvel comic and feature film Guardians Of The Galaxy was named after Rocky Raccoon. Other references to the song’s lyrics were used in various story titles featuring Rocket such as “Now Somewhere In the Black Holes of Sirius Major There Lived a Young Boy Named Rocket Raccoon” from The Incredible Hulk #271 (May 1982), which featured Hulk helping Rocket stop a villain trying to steal “Gideon’s Bible” – a book that contained the sum of all knowledge on the Loonies colony.
