Paul’s piano string bass
On February 12, 1961, the Beatles played the Casbah Coffee Club in West Derby, Liverpool. Bassist Chas Newby— Stu Sutcliffe’s replacement — had just quit the group to attend university and Paul reluctantly agreed to take over on bass when George and John refused. Being that he wouldn’t own a bass until later, Paul strung three piano strings onto his Rosetti Solid 7 guitar for the performance.
