Leave My Kitten Alone (John/Turner/McDougall)
The Beatles recorded 5 takes of Leave My Kitten Alone during sessions for Beatles For Sale, of which only takes 4 (a false start) and 5 exist. Overdubs were added to take 5 but the song was never mixed for Beatles For Sale, and did receive a proper mix until it was resurrected by Geoff Emerick in 1984 for inclusion on the Sessions compilation and as a single. Those releases never materialized, and the track was again mixed in 1994 for Anthology 1.
“That was a Johnny Preston song that we’d rehearsed in Liverpool along with all our Cavern stuff and it was just in our repertoire. It wasn’t a big one that we used to do, we’d pull it out of the hat occasionally, and we also recorded it.” – Paul McCartney, from The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions
