A Collection Of Beatles Oldies (1966)
Buy A Collection Of Beatles Oldies on vinyl
At the time of its release, A Collection Of Beatles Oldies featured eight songs not available on any Beatles LP. It was rendered obsolete by the compact disc standardization of the band’s albums and Past Masters and is out of print and unavailable in any form. It contains the first appearance of Bad Boy on disc in the UK.
Nearly the wrong “Boy”
While A Collection Of Beatles Oldies was being prepared, it was discovered that there was one Beatles track which had not appeared on any UK LP to date: Bad Boy, the Larry Williams potboiler which had surfaced on Beatles VI in the U.S. in June, 1965. The track was called up for remixing but instead of receiving the tape for Bad Boy, the tape for This Boy was sent instead. Engineer Peter Brown duly mixed the tracks into stereo for the first time, but that mix of This Boy went unissued until 1976 when it appeared on a Capitol of Canada 45 with All My Loving on the B-side.
