Long, Long, Long (Harrison)

Guest performance by Blue Nun wine

Toward the end of the song a sound is heard which was caused by a bottle of Blue Nun wine which was sitting on a Leslie speaker rattling after a particular note was struck by Paul. The band and producer Chris Thomas liked the results, the bottle was set back up, and it was duplicated.

“I can’t recall much about it except the chords, which I think were coming from (Bob Dylan’s) ‘Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands’ – D to E minor, A and D – those three chords and the way they moved…The ‘you’ in ‘Long, Long, Long’ is God” – George Harrison, from I Me Mine

  • George Harrison – lead vocal, acoustic guitars
  • Paul McCartney – harmony vocal, Hammond organ, bass guitar
  • Ringo Starr – drums
  • Chris Thomas – piano

George’s most underrated Beatles composition. Haunting and beautiful.
